Benjamin Crofut is assistant principal bass of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra and assistant professor of double bass at the University of Alabama. Summers are spent on double bass faculty at the Toradze International Music Festival in Tbilisi, Georgia. Ben’s double bass students have gone on to outstanding degree programs including Indiana University (Bloomington), Cincinnati University College-Conservatory of Music, Penn State University, The University of South Florida, and The University of Texas at Austin. In addition to teaching, Ben regularly performs with a myriad of professional orchestras in the southeast US including Chattanooga, Birmingham, Jackson (TN), Tupelo, Columbus (GA), Tuscaloosa, and Mobile. Ben holds performance degrees from the Eastman School, Duquesne University, and Colburn Conservatory, as well as certificates in bow repair/rehair from the UNH Violin Craftsmanship Institute and Dalcroze Eurhythmics from the Dalcroze School of Music and Movement.
