In Dmitri Shostakovich’s Violin Concerto No. 1, performed by Vadim Repin, music becomes both refuge and resistance. Paired with the elemental drama of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s The Tempest and Igor Stravinsky’s The Fairy’s Kiss, this program explores nature not only as scenery, but as a force that shapes memory, identity, and the artist’s voice. Conducted by ASO Artistic Director José-Luis Novo.

From the shimmering festival lights of Claude Debussy’s “Fêtes,” and the Spanish flair of Maurice Ravel’s Alborada del gracioso (“Morning Song of the Jester”) to the living birdsong of Tan Dun and the iconic mountain ascent of Richard Strauss An Alpine Symphony, this program reveals nature as sound, color, and shared experience. New! Enjoy a Sunday, 3PM matinee. The orchestra invites the audience to hear the call of the wild - the natural world - through music shaped by wind, light, the abundance of nature, and the passage of time. The concert is just over one hour in length and includes Richard Strauss’ Alpine Symphony and Tan Dun Passacaglia: Secret of Wind and Birds. Conducted by José-Luis Novo.

From the shadowed Nordic forests of Jean Sibelius’ Tapiola to the lyrical brilliance of Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1, performed by Esther Yoo, this program traces nature’s quiet mystery and the human voices it inspires. Rhythm and motion unfold like forces of nature in Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 . Conducted by ASO Artistic Director José-Luis Novo.

From the shifting tides of Benjamin Britten’s Four Sea Interludes to the sharp brilliance of Sergei Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3, performed by Stewart Goodyear, “Shaped by Nature” explores how the orchestra brings natural landscapes to life through music. It culminates in the sweeping vistas of Ferde Grofé’s Grand Canyon Suite, where the vast American West is rendered in orchestral color both vivid and enduring.
