Keyboard Audition

About this audition: The Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, under Artistic Director & Conductor, José-Luis Novo, announces the audition for Principal Keyboard to be held on Sunday, January 17, 2027 at the University of Maryland’s Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center in College Park, MD. The ASO is a per service orchestra and compensation for the 2026-2027 Season is $190.63 per service, with approximately 34 services. A list of repertoire for the audition can be found below.
TO APPLY: Qualified candidates must apply by clicking the “APPLY TODAY” link. The deadline to apply is Monday, December 7, 2026. Applications must include:
- A resume, submitted through the website form or emailed.
- A $50 refundable deposit check made out to “Annapolis Symphony Orchestra.” Candidates will receive their audition deposit back on the day of the audition. Candidates will also receive their deposit back if they cancel by 5 pm on Thursday, January 14, 2027. Checks will be deposited if a candidate cancels after this date or does not appear for the audition.
- Checks are to be made out to “Annapolis Symphony Orchestra,” and mailed to: Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, Attn: Auditions, 801 Chase Street, Suite 204, Annapolis MD 21401.
More information, including specific audition times, will follow after December 7 and upon receipt of resume and audition deposit. Not including both of these items will delay processing of your application.
ASO reserves the right to decline to invite applicants to the audition based on an anonymous resume screening round.
PLEASE NOTE:
- ASO is a per service orchestra and does not provide lodging during concert weeks. Mileage is currently reimbursed at 24% of the IRS mileage rate from the musician’s home or the address at which the musician stays within the National Capital Region, whichever is less.
- Foreign candidates need to have the proper visa in place in order to work and be paid by the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, as ASO cannot apply for or sponsor visas for its musicians.
- The winner of the audition will be required to join the Musicians’ Association of Metropolitan Baltimore, Local 40-543 even if they are a member of another local.
