Assistant Concertmaster, and Section Violin 1 & 2

About these auditions: The Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, under Artistic Director & Conductor, José-Luis Novo, announces auditions for Assistant Concertmaster, Section Violin 1 (multiple openings) and Section Violin 2 (multiple openings) to be held on Monday June 6, 2022 at the ASO’s Annapolis Concert Venue Maryland Hall. Annapolis Symphony Orchestra is a per service orchestra and compensation for the 2021-2022 Season is $123.53 per service for Assistant Concertmaster and $117.64 per service for Section Violin. Rates for 2022-2025 will be determined in the new Collective Bargaining Agreement. A list of repertoire for the audition can be found below.
TO APPLY: Qualified candidates should apply through the form on the ASO website. Please upload a resume and a cover letter through the form. Please be sure to note in your letter if you would like to be considered for both positions. Deadline for receipt of resumes is May 27, 2022. Additionally, please mail a $50 refundable deposit check* to the ASO.
*You will receive your audition deposit back on the day of the audition. A candidate will also receive their deposit back if cancelling by 5:00 pm on Friday June 3, 2022. Your check will be deposited if you cancel after this date or do not appear for the audition.

COVID INFORMATION: All candidates must wear face masks the entire time they are inside Maryland Hall, including during their audition. In addition, all candidates must present proof of COVID-19 vaccination before being able to audition. Please submit your vaccination card on the website form.

More information, including specific audition times, will follow upon receipt of resume, cover letter, audition deposit, and proof of vaccination. Not including these four items will delay processing of your application. Please make sure your current address, cell phone number, and e-mail address are on your resume and cover letter.
For those applying from out of state, please know that the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra is a per service orchestra and does not offer travel reimbursement or lodging during concert weeks. Foreign candidates need to have the proper visa in place in order to work and be paid by the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra. The winner of the audition will be required to join the Musicians’ Association of Metropolitan Baltimore, Local 40-543 even if you are a member of another local.
