What city are you living in now? Arnold, MD
Where did you study? BM-West Virginia University; MM-Peabody Conservatory; MD Teaching Certificate- Peabody Conservatory
What is your favorite piece of music? So many amazing options from all periods, but I would have to say Ein Heldenleben or Mahler 5.
What do you enjoy in your spare time? We have been sailing on and off for many years, but have increased our activities recently, hoping to sail beyond the Chesapeake in our retirement years.
What is your fondest Annapolis Symphony memory? Rather than a particular piece or performance, one of my best memories was winning my position in ASO over 20 years ago. Aside from securing a seat in my hometown orchestra, I had the unique circumstance of auditioning the day before my wife, Kim. When I called her with the exciting news, she was supportively thrilled for me, while immediately feeling a sense of pressure to perform well on her audition the very next day! I anxiously awaited the results, but was not at all surprised at the news that Kim rose to the occasion and won the Principal Flute chair. I’m only glad the tables were not reversed, as I’m not sure I would have handled the pressure as well as she did!
