Where did you study? Eastman School of Music-Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance and Music Education.  Florida State University-Master of Music in Trumpet Performance.

What is your favorite piece of music? Petrouchka by Igor Stravinsky.

What do you enjoy in your spare time? In my spare time, I enjoy running, cooking, and being with my family.

What is your fondest Annapolis Symphony memory? My fondest memory of Annapolis Symphony is having the opportunity to solo with the orchestra in 2017.

 

Christopher Sala earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music and a Master of Music degree from The Florida State University where he was a member of the faculty brass quintet. He was the first place winner of the International Trumpet Guild Solo Competition, the ITG Mock Orchestra Competition, and the second place winner of the National Trumpet Competition. He has also been a semi-finalist in the Vassily Brandt Competition in Saratov, Russia and the Maurice André Competition in Paris and toured Internationally with Atlantic Brass and Epic Brass.

He currently serves as Principal Trumpet/Solo Cornet and Concert Band Unit Leader of the United States Navy Band in Washington, D.C. In his Navy Band career he has performed for the last three Presidents and often plays for several foreign dignitaries and government officials each year. He is also the Principal Trumpet of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra and performs with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Richmond Symphony, Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Choral Arts, and Bayfield Brass.
