William Kan is a native of Cleveland, Ohio. He received his B.M. in Percussion Performance from Wright State University studying under Jerry Noble, and his M.M. in the same degree from University of Georgia under Timothy K. Adams Jr. His other major teachers have been Mell Csicsila, a freelancer in the Cleveland Area, and Tom Freer, retired Associate Principal Timpani and Percussion of the Cleveland Orchestra.
William is currently a member of the United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own” in the Ceremonial Band. Previously, he was a member of the 1st Cavalry Division Band at Fort Cavazos, Texas and the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic. He has also performed with orchestras such as the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Virginia Symphony Orchestra, West Virginia Symphony, Augusta Symphony, Canton Symphony Orchestra, Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, Pan American Symphony Orchestra, Youngstown Symphony, Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, and the Ohio Valley Symphony, to name a few.
In his free time, William enjoys fitness, great food, and spending quality time with his wife.
