A Celebration of Love, Wisdom, and Art
Join us for an inspiring concert that explores vibrant textures, timeless themes, and breathtaking artistry from Beethoven’s imitations of the metronome to a virtuosic violin solo by Noah Bendix- Balgley, and heavy percussion from Bernstein and Ginastera. This program connects music, history, and humanity in unforgettable ways.
- Noah Bendix-Balgley: From his time with Maestro José-Luis Novo at the Cincinnati Youth Orchestra to his current global success, Noah Bendix-Balgley’s career as a violinist has taken him around the world. He returns to Annapolis and Strathmore for Bernstein’s Serenade. Inspired by Plato’s Symposium, the piece explores love through contrasting textures and ends in a thrilling, virtuosic finale.
- Beethoven’s Creatures of Prometheus Overture: A powerful piece that symbolizes the birth of civil society, Beethoven’s Creatures of Prometheus brims with vitality and explores Enlightenment ideals of progress and self-governance.
- Beethoven’s Eighth Symphony: A lighthearted gem filled with humor, optimism, and innovative scherzos—watch for playful nods to an emerging technology of Beethoven’s time – metronome-inspired rhythms.
- Ginastera’s Estancia Dances: Dynamic and energetic, these four movements bring Argentina’s working-class life to the stage, connecting folklore with fiery percussion and the unrelenting pulse of the Malambo dance.
Don’t miss this extraordinary evening celebrating art, culture, and the human spirit!
