Violin II

As an active orchestral violinist, Madalyn Navis was appointed a member of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra under Maestro Eric Jacobson in 2022 and became a member of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra in 2025. In addition, Madalyn performs regularly with many ensembles across the D.C. area and the Midwest. Recent engagements include the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, Richmond Symphony Orchestra, American Pops Orchestra, Virginia Opera, Fairfax Symphony Orchestra (Section First Violin), Lima Symphony Orchestra (Former Section First Violin), and Lansing Symphony, among others. Her recent seasons have brought opportunities to create music with artists such as Gil Shaham, Yo-Yo Ma, Béla Fleck, Renée Fleming, Chris Thile, Curtis Stewart, Victor Wooten, and Yuja Wang. 

Ms. Navis also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Instrumental Music Education (K–12) and is a certified Suzuki violin teacher. She is on faculty at Opal Music Studio in Old Town, Alexandra and is in the process of building her own private studio in Burke, VA. In addition to private teaching, Madalyn enjoyed coaching students from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Civic Youth Ensembles, Toledo School for the Arts, Toledo Symphony Youth Orchestras, St. Cecilia Music Center’s Strings to Schools program, and the Holland Symphony Youth Orchestras. 

In her spare time, Madalyn enjoys playing for theater productions. She has performed in over 20 professional productions, including several summers at the Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre Company. Recent highlights include playing the world premiere of Private Jones, working with composer Jeanine Tesori, and orchestrators Danny Troob and EGOT Jonathan Tunick at the Tony Award-winning Signature Theatre. 

Originally raised in rural Wisconsin, Madalyn attended the String Academy of Wisconsin at UW-Milwaukee while performing in the Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra. She went on to receive degrees in violin performance from Hope College (B.M. & B.M.E.) and Bowling Green State University (M.M.) where she was awarded the Graduate String Quartet Assistantship.
