Join the ASO Brass Quintet on the lawn of St. Johns College in Annapolis when we perform before the City of Annapolis’ screening of the hit Broadway show Hamilton. ASO musicians Christopher Buchanan and Thomas Bithell, trumpets; Shane Iler, horn; David Perkel, trombone; and Jake Fewx, tuba will perform a stunning repertoire of their favorite patriotic and classical pieces, like:

Christopher Buchanan (trumpet) has been Second Trumpet of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra since 2013. He formerly was a member of the U.S. Naval Academy Band and U.S. Navy Band in Washington, D.C., where he currently serves as Chief Arranger. His arrangements and compositions have been performed by numerous U.S. service bands as well as university wind ensembles across the country.
Thomas Bithell (trumpet), is a longtime member of the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra in Virginia and performs with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, and the Baltimore Choral Arts Society.
Shane Iler (horn) performs regularly with several area orchestras, including Richmond, Maryland, Reading, Allentown, and Williamsburg symphonies, in addition to his position as Associate Principal Horn with the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra. He is an avid chamber musician, and performs with and helps run the ANCO, a self-conducted chamber orchestra based in Virginia. Rounding out his performance endeavors are the Georgetown Woodwind Quintet and Ars Nova Brass Quintet. Shane is also an experienced Natural Horn player.
David Perkel (trombone) is Principal Trombone of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra and has performed with many other orchestras including the National Symphony Orchestra, Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, San Antonio Symphony, and many others. As a jazz musician, Perkel has performed and/or recorded with numerous jazz luminaries including Chris Potter, Steve Turre, Branford Marsalis, Ryan Kisor, Dick Oatts, Doc Severinson, Jane Monheit, Jerry Bergonzi, and Bob Mintzer. He was a member of the United States Navy Band Commodores jazz ensemble for sixteen years.
Jake Fewx (tuba), Principal Tuba of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, has collaborated with renowned groups such as the Philadelphia Orchestra, National Philharmonic, Rhode Island Philharmonic, Lancaster Symphony, Eugene Symphony, and The Orchestra Now. In 2018, he was awarded first prize in the 2018 Leonard Falcone International Tuba Artist Solo Competition and continues to perform as a soloist and chamber musician across the US.
