MUSIC PROGRAM
A program of legendary figures—both real and imagined—unfolds in an unforgettable evening of orchestral storytelling. The concert opens with timeless operatic works that stir the soul and set the stage for what’s to come.
Soprano Christine Goerke is one of the most distinguished sopranos of her generation. She has appeared on the stages of the Metropolitan Opera, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Paris Opera, Teatro alla Scala, and Lyric Opera of Chicago, among many others. Goerke will perform Richard Strauss Vier letzte Lieder (Four Last Songs).
Next is Strauss’ Don Juan, a fiery and romantic symphonic poem that showcases the brilliance, precision, and expressive range of the ASO’s celebrated string sections. The evening reaches its finale with Copland’s iconic suite from Billy the Kid—a bold, distinctly American composition.
Join us for a free pre-concert lecture with Jonathan Palevsky in the Maryland Hall Main Auditorium at 6:30pm, open to all ticket holders.
