Music Program

Igor Stravinsky, The Soldier’s Tale

Savor music, storytelling, and a free sweet treat as seven ASO musicians bring Igor Stravinsky’s The Soldier’s Tale to life in an intimate ASO chamber concert conducted by Claire Lewis.

Inspired by a Russian folk tale, the music follows a soldier who trades his beloved violin to the devil in exchange for a book promising untold wealth—only to discover the true cost of his bargain. Stravinsky’s lively rhythms and colorful instrumental voices capture the wit, temptation, and drama of this timeless tale. Continuing the delicious tradition of last season’s Brahms and Ice Cream and Mozart and Cookies concerts, Sweet Hearts Patisserie will offer a variety of complimentary macarons and other French pastries after the performance—the perfect finish to a musical treat.
